The Road Safety Foundation will continue to work with corporates, their employees and, as a key strategy for 2011, focus on key responsibilities of individual road users.

Each individual that puts up their hand to behave in a responsible manner on the roads, takes us one step closer to safe roads.

Let's work together to make our roads safe!

How do I get speeds humps placed in my road?
I live in Kenilworth Avenue, Sydenham, Durban. The road that I live in is very narrow, only allowing one vehicle to pass at a time. Access into driveways is very arkward, especially when reversing out. Visitors tend to park their vehicles halfway on the road and halfway on a small strip of pavement meant for pedestrians to walk on, thus leaving pedestrians to walk on the road. With all of these obstacles and unsafe conditions in place, inconsiderate motorists speed up and down this road everyday. Most of these motorist are not from the road and are just passing through to avoid trafic. I do not have a driveway on my side of the road and my driveway gate is on the border line of the road. I have 2 toddlers and 1 dog who are not aware of the danger of being rundown if they just step a few feet out of the driveway. There is a school nearby and a lot of school children use this road to get to school and back due to pathways that link all the avenues. especially with motorist speeding throu

campain to educate children to wear seat belts
Hi. I too am concerned at the amount out children killed or maimed by not wearing a seat belt. I personally believe and hold parents responsible for not encouraging their children to wear seat belts. But seeing that some parents are selfish and cannot control their children I would like to start by educating our youngsters to why it is important to wear seat belts. My two boys would not low me to start my car until they have fitted their seat belts on. This all happened one day when they witnessed an accident happen in front of them. While standing at a red light a taxi next to me jumped the red light and citi golf raced to beat the red light crossing over our street. The impact was so hard that the taxi was nearly ripped in 2 pieces. Bodies with missing limbs lay all over the road. To get to my main point was that my boys regrettable had to witness what happens when not wearing a seat belt. After some trauma counseling they are well a wear to the pros and cons of wearing seat belts.

Me(Lee-Ann Liebenberg) and my fiance(Danny K) were waiting at a red traffic light, and the vechile(Toyota MFZ747GP) came from behind us at alarming dangerous speed in a low speed street and skipped the red traffic light in a unsafe, dangerous manner, illegaly overtaking over a white barrier line. We simply flashed our brights at the speeding car to warn him that we is putting his life and those of others in danger. The car proceeded to travel at dangerous speed and then stopped in the middle of the road to block us,and waited for us.When we got closer the driver then got out of his car, screaming and swearing and tried to smash our window. He intimidated us and verbally abused us,and the driver threatened to hurt us.My fiance sensed that we were in danger and got out of his car after telling the driver to leave us alone. When my fiance got out the man continued to verbally abuse us and at this stage the drivers wife got out of the car and also verbally abused us and threatened us.
